Ref Clinic

Tuesday, December 08, 2009
There will be a reffing clinic held this weekend for interested refs and any player that wants to learn more about the rules of the game of broomball.
Where: YBA broomball rink
When: Sat Dec.12th
Time: 2 pm.
Bring your gear.
The league is very short on referees and this clinic is long over due and badly needed. Also note that the league does pay refs to ref a game so there is some incentive to get out there!

Summer 2009

It's still summer and you wouldn't think that much was happening on the broomball front but you would be surprised. Members of the executive have been busy getting things done. As you may have noticed the construction in Takhini has started; new roads have been put in place all around the broomball rink. That meant that a number of things had to happen related to the rink. Milford Allain has led the planning with the City of Whitehorse to make sure that the league is able to have access to the things we need, including the land, roads, sewer and water. As well now that the footprint around the rink will be much smaller fencing will be installed around the rink, this will also allow us to have better security for the rink and cut down on costly vandalism that happens every year.
Plans have also been moving along for the upcoming season and the opening tournament for the 2009/2010 season. The Bob Park Opening tournament will have an additional twist this year, the Northern Cup. The tournament scheduled for November 13 to 15th will include teams from other northern jurisdictions including teams from Alaska and NWT.
Look for details about the tournament as they develop.
